The challenge
scalating tariffs and reliance on diesel generators created high operating costs and significant environmental impact for Langhoek Farm. The farm required a reliable, efficient energy solution to reduce electricity costs, cover essential loads, and support daily agricultural operations.
The SSS solution
Specialized Solar Systems engineered and installed an AC and DC coupled hybrid solar system combining a 169.7 kWp solar PV array with 240 kWh of LiFePO4 battery storage. Power conversion is managed by 171 kVA of hybrid inverter capacity, delivering seamless integration of AC and DC technologies for maximum energy efficiency.
Results and benefits
The system provides a continuous power supply for critical farm functions, including irrigation, refrigeration, and daily operations. By reducing grid reliance and diesel consumption, the project achieves an estimated payback period typically under 6 years.
