The challenge
Unreliable grid supply and high electricity tariffs threatened business continuity and financial affordability for Hartmans Butchery in George, where continuous power is critical for commercial refrigeration and processing.
The SSS solution
pecialized Solar Systems installed a 90 kVA AC-coupled hybrid solar energy system paired with a 52.1 kWp solar PV array and 200 kWh of Freedom Won LiFePO4 battery storage (160 kWh usable). Power conversion is managed by six 15 kVA Victron Quattro inverters (90 kVA total) alongside a 27 kVA Fronius grid-tied inverter, delivering seamless AC/DC hybrid integration across solar, battery, and grid supply.
Results and benefits
Delivering an average solar yield of 218 kWh/day, the system significantly reduces grid reliance and diesel generator consumption. The installation secures operational resilience for cold storage while achieving an estimated payback period typically under 6 years.
