Video: Residential Hybrid Solar – Save on costs by using energy efficient appliances
In the video below Ray Nolan from Specialized Solar Systems presents a residential home. This home was commissioned a week before the COVID-19 South African lock-down at the end of March 2020. The installation consists of a residential hybrid solar system making use of 3-phased 15kVA inverters (5 kVA per phase). It also uses an 11.8kWp PV solar array generating an average of 50kWhrs per day. In fact, this is a great example of residential hybrid solar technology in action.
Energy is stored using LiP0 battery technology which delivers up to 28kWhrs per day of stored energy. What is interesting with this installation is how much energy the customer saved when replacing outdated appliances with energy efficient ones. By doing so, they saved a whole lot on solar equipment costs. Additionally, solar solutions can offer significant cost benefits over time.
