Specialized Solar Systems Notice

Scams and phishing awareness

• The rule of thumb is that if it’s too good to be true then it’s probably a scam. Solar scam awareness is important for everyone considering purchasing solar products.
• If you’re unsure, please contact us before making an invoice payment to verify authenticity before purchasing items. For your peace of mind, solar scam awareness can help prevent costly mistakes.
• Be vigilant – don’t do online banking at internet cafes or public hotspots. Also, keep in mind the risks associated with solar scams.
• Always keep your software protection up to date. This is important because effective software security contributes towards scam awareness, especially in the solar space.

Emails

• Please be aware that you could be randomly emailed with false “spoofed” emails made to look like they were sent from Specialized Solar Systems, but are in fact fraudulent. These emails are aimed at enticing unsuspecting customers to part with personal information such as bank account details. With the growing number of solar scams, awareness becomes your best first defence.
• These emails can contain links, false invoices, fake banking details, false forms and fake websites made to look like the “real thing”. However, their aim is to fool people into entering personal information such as bank account details. The criminals then extract this information and use it fraudulently. Being aware of solar scams and their methods is vital for your safety.
• Please be vigilant and if unsure, please contact us directly at 044 878 1126 to verify legitimacy before proceeding with transactions. Staying alert to solar scam awareness tips may protect your assets.

Social Media

• Unfortunately, social media isn’t always what it seems. It’s easy for scammers to pose as someone else or a business and to use social media takeovers to fraudulently list items. In addition, they can steal from unsuspecting buyers. For this reason, cultivating solar scam awareness is paramount.
• Specialized Solar Systems will always only post from https://www.facebook.com/specializedsolar
• Facebook Marketplace also relies on buyers and sellers directly interacting. Once you contact a buyer, you’ll be put in a chat with them. This setup gives scammers the chance to pressure you into falling for their fraud. Remember, understanding the need for scam awareness in the solar industry can help you avoid these pitfalls.
• Be vigilant and if unsure please contact us directly at 044 878 1126 to verify legitimacy before proceeding with purchasing items. Remember, solar scam awareness makes you a tougher target.
