The challenge
Rising electricity tariffs and heavy farm consumption demanded an energy-secure, financially viable alternative for Braams Farm. The facility required a dependable, cost-effective solution to combat high energy costs, grid dependence, and vulnerability to power outages.
The SSS solution
Specialized Solar Systems engineered and installed an 180 kVA AC-coupled hybrid solar system featuring a 140.8 kWp solar PV array and 160 kWh of LiFePO4 battery storage (128 kWh usable). Power conversion is handled by twelve 15 kVA Victron Quattro inverters (180 kVA total) and four 27 kVA Fronius Eco inverters (108 kVA total), functioning as a seamless AC/DC-coupled embedded generator equipped with net metering and energy banking capabilities.
Results and benefits
The system produces 244 MWh of solar electricity annually, significantly reducing energy expenses and grid reliance while cutting estimated CO2 emissions by ~211 tons per year.
