42kWh per day Off-Grid Wilderness solar energy system installation

Short video of a recent 42kWh per day residential Off-Grid solar energy system installation completed in Wilderness

The Victron powered off-grid installation consisted of the following components:

  • 2 x Victron Smart Solar 150/85-TR MPPT
  • 1 x 15kVA Victron inverter|charger|controller
  • 7.95 kWp (30 X 265W) PV Solar panels array delivering an average of 42kWh per day
  • 48 x 2V Mil lead acid storage cells in crates with additional water, self-watering maintenance system and control book (47kWh usable at 30% DOD). Total of 159 360kWh.
  • Victron CGX Color Control with battery monitor and Wi-Fi dongle for remote management
  • 1 x Wi-Fi router for GPRS communication
  • Junction box, cables and surge protection for both AC and DC lines
  • Interconnecting cable between energy system and house distribution box (CAROX 15m 3 core steel)
  • Installation of the complete system including single line diagrams, commissioning and COC

Grid-Tie Solar System 12.5kVA 15kWp 77kWhrs per day

One of this week’s Specialized Solar Systems installations included a 15kWp solar system with Fronius 3 phase grid-tie inverter to supplement their power in a restaurant. The solar installation was done in Humansdorp South Africa.

The grid-tied solar systems consisted of the following components:

  • 15 kWp PV Solar Modules
  • DC Combiner Box with Surge Protection
  • SM Rail Mount Framework for Roof
  • 1 x SYMO 12.5-3-M, 2 MPPT, Web server & WLAN
  • 1 x Smart Meter - Three Phase - 63A
  • System Programming and Maintenance/Owner Training

Beyond the Moon goes green.

Beyond the Moon, a piece of heaven nestling in the foothills of the neatly-brushed, lush green Outeniqua Mountains, had a sub-centralized off-grid solar generation unit installed, lighting up their pathways and areas onthe guest farm.

The Sub-Centralized solar unit has many features:

  • Each energy unit can be remotely managed.
  • Each unit has monitoring functionality for the correct management of energy supply and product protection.
  • Engineered for safety and system longevity.
  • Service and maintenance agreement available with utility formation software.
  • Monitoring function available via data or SD storage device.

The Sub-Centralized solar unit has many applications:

  • Power rural domestic homes: between 10-30 houses with DC energy supply.
  • Street light energy supply unit: 10-25 SSS Street lights can be powered per unit.
  • Commercial use: smaller factories or producing plants.
