Sungevity at the Energy Sources Expo in Harare, Zimbabwe

The Sungevity crew were hard at work and making waves at the Energy Sources Expo held in Harare, Zimbabwe on Saturday 13th February 2016.

Various players in the industry showcased their products and buyers from all over the country came to see what was on offer. Visitors who came to the Sungevity stand were very impressed with the wide range of options and our Solar Fridge and Solar Freezer were sensations. It was a great opportunity to share the potential of solar power to the public.

Aleks and Max the electricians,  worked hard to  have everything hooked up to the sun and we were delighted to show that the appliances all worked well (even when the rain poured down and everyone ran for cover!)

Solar Powered Street Lighting for Libode Eco Park, Eastern Cape South Africa

Specialized Solar Systems (SSS) recently supplied the solar powered street lighting units for Libode Eco Park situated in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. The renewable energy lighting system will light up the walkways and add security.

 

The SSS Alpha Series range of solar powered lighting used for this project,  is the ‘next-generation’ of solar powered LED lighting systems that is setting the standard for the future; applying revolutionary technology developments to deliver the most intelligent solar lighting solution available today.

The Alpha series offers a compact and robust design that is well suited for African harsh weather conditions; a newly developed LED lens offers much improved lighting distribution that will meet the most demanding specification criteria as well as providing ‘Smart-Eye’ motion detection technology that automatically regulates the lamp output to increase battery autonomy.

Cape Town Hybrid System Installation

Recent Hybrid solar system installed in Cape Town consisted of:

  • 2Kw of PV solar panels - roof mounted
  • 1x 3000VA Victron Multiplus inverter/charger
  • 12x 530 A/h 2V Mil Solar Batteries
  • 1x Victron 150/85 Mppt
  • 1x Battery Monitor
  • 1x Color Control

A hybrid solar system combines the best of both worlds: the convenience of a grid connected system — including the ability to earn tarif credits if supported in your area and battery backup system which will supply power in the event of a blackout or during load shedding.

Combining energy storage with a grid connection to your property, hybrid systems can provide the flexibility of being able to store the energy you generate during the day instead of feeding it back into the grid - typically at a low feed-in tariff. This energy can then be used in the evening instead of buying power back at a higher price.

3 Phase 15 KVA 7.5KWP Hybrid Solar System

Recent images of the 3 Phase 15 KVA 7.5KWP Hybrid Solar System Specialized Solar Systems, Kheis Municipality, Red Flow Advance Energy and Peer Africa officially launched last year.

The Hybrid Solar PV system used for this project is currently in its first phase of suppling solar generated energy to power the water pumping equipment for the Water Treatment Works (WTW) using the revolutionary Flow Battery System for energy storage.
