A world first, Specialized Solar Systems completed the installation of a sub-centralized solar energy power station in conjunction with an innovative client in Cape Town, Zonke Energy.  The installation was done on the outskirts of Cape Town in a suburb called Jabula where grid power is not available. It consists of a sub-centralized solar energy unit which is a solar energy producing station that supply’s remotely managed DC solar energy from a central point that will branch out to supply much needed solar energy to a further 9-11 house-holds.

Specialized Solar Systems utility-based solar management integrated solution will supply all the necessary tools in an easy to use, tiered-user, on-line framework for sustainable and remotely managed energy supply for the project. The integrated solution is used extensively in many off-grid solar electrification projects where remote system management and ground management rely on the real-time data with automated client billing, switching and comprehensive system management.

An incredible solar electrification journey

Through our vision of "Lighting up Africa with renewable energy " and with over 20 000 DC microgrids developed and manufactured by a team of passionate individuals at Specialized Solar Systems, we are only now at the beginning stages of an incredible journey – both humbling and exciting – to bring sustainable, renewable, affordable, off-grid solar energy into some of the estimated 600 million non-electrified homes in Africa [source: World Bank]: fast-tracking job creation, infrastructure, communication, water pumping, education, entertainment, possibilities, hope …and a better standard of living for all.

Jabula sub-centralized solar energy power station Stage 1

A world first.  Specialized Solar Systems completed its first installation of a sub-centralized solar energy power station in conjunction with an innovative client in Cape Town, Zonke Energy.

The installation was done on the outskirts of Cape town in the suburb called Jabula where grid-power is not available. It consisted of a sub-centralized solar energy station which is a central-based solar energy producing unit that will further supply remotely managed DC solar energy from a central point that will then branch out to further 9-11 house-holds.

 
The project is in its the first phase and the sub-centralized energy station efficiencies will now be carefully monitored before moving to the next stages that will include more solar panels and further energy monitoring to each of the individual households.

Hendrik Schloemann from Solar Reach, decided that each household will make use of a Pay as You Go billing packages supplied within Specialized Solar Systems online off-grid solar management utility, SSS-EPOWER. These billing packages consist of bundles much like cell phone services providers use.

SSS-EPOWER will be used to manage the power consumption, POS management, client management, remote switching and billing structure all remotely for the project. At each sub centralized unit installation, a street light is also erected creating much-needed light for the community.
